1947 Eddie Shore Signed Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Contract (PSA)

1947 Eddie Shore Signed Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Contract (PSA)

Uniform NHL player trade contract is dated March 14, 1947, and is signed by Hall of Famer Eddie Shore. Page is 8.5x9.5" and is very well preserved with only hints of toning at the edges and no apparent creases or blemishes. Typed in are the parties to the trade - the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Springfield Hockey Club - and concerns the sending of Lawrence May to Springfield, as the typewritten notation states, "In Completion of Deal for Player Robert Dawes." Shore played defense for the Boston Bruins from 1926-40, and received four Hart Trophies as the league's Most Valuable Player. After retirement, he was a long time owner of the American Hockey League's Springfield Indians, for whom he signed in sharp blue ballpoint ink on the bottom right. He is remembered to this day not only for his Hall of Fame skills, but for his "Old Time Hockey" style as popularized generations later by the Hanson Brothers in the iconic hockey movie, Slap Shot. Encapsulated by PSA as Auto Authentic.
