1947 Jackie Robinson Meets Ben Chapman Photo & Program
We all know the hidden story of this photograph, that the Phillies manager refused to shake Robinson's hand and would only agree to hold the same bat as the Dodger rookie for a photo op. Caption states that Chapman denied reports that his team was "...riding Robinson from the bench any more than they did other players..." Included with the EX photo is a program from this historical game, listing Robinson as batting second and holding down first base duties. A few pen notations to the Phillies line-up on the scorecard and a horizontal crease from having been folded, otherwise EX.
