1947 Pirates & Giants Team Signed Baseball With Ott, Greenberg, & Frisch
Dated June 10, 1947, this rare baseball features 14 signatures, including those of Hall of Famers Mel Ott, Johnny Mize, Hank Greenberg, Frankie Frisch, Ralph Kiner (on the sweet spot), and Travis Jackson. On the date inscribed in the ball, the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates faced off at the Polo Grounds, with the Giants taking the game 3-2 in 12 innings. Some noteworthy tidbits about this ball include it being signed by both Ott and Frisch, who would both die in a similar fashion (car accident) and it signed was the same year that Frisch was enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
