Collection of three 1948 Boston Braves team-signed baseballs, plus three minor-league team signed baseballs, originating from the personal collection of former Boston Braves catcher Phil Masi. 1) 1948 Boston Braves. Thirty-one blue or black fountain-pen signatures (averaging 7/10) on an ONL (Frick) ball, including Southworth (Mgr., sweet spot), Spahn (smudged "W" in "Warren"), Masi, Fitzsimmons (coach, sweet spot), Sisti (sweet spot), Holmes, M. McCormick, B. Elliott, Dark, Stanky, F. McCormick, Sain, Torgeson, and Bickford. NM-MT. 2) 1948 Boston Braves. Twenty-Seven blue fountain-pen signatures (averaging 9/10) on an OLN (Frick) ball including Southworth (Mgr.), Spahn, Masi, Stanky (coach, sweet spot), B. Elliott (sweet spot), Sain, Holmes, F. McCormick, M. McCormick, Bickford, Cooney (coach), White, Beazley, Potter, Hogue, and Salkeld. NR-MT. 3) 1949 Boston Braves. Twenty blue fountain-pen signatures (averaging 6/10) on an ONL (Frick) ball, including Southworth (Mgr., sweet spot), Masi (sweet spot), Sain, Holmes, Bickford, White, Stanky (coach), Fitzsimmons (coach), F. McCormick, B. Elliott, Sisti, and Conatser. EX.The remaining three balls in the collection are all 1953 Dallas Eagles team signed balls. Masi ended his professional career with Dallas in 1953 and he helped lead the club to the Texas League Championship that year. Each Official Texas League (Gardner) ball has been signed in blue ink (averaging 8/10) by Masi and his teammates (the balls feature 16, 18, and 19 signatures, respectively). NM-MT condition on average. Please note: one most allow for the possibility of a few clubhouse signatures on these balls, as it was a common practice at the time.
