1948 Carl Erskine Brooklyn Dodgers True Rookie Contract

Offered here is Carl Erskine's first major league contract. He spent two years as a free agent in the minors, so this is his first official contract. The four-page Uniform Player Contract is dated July 21st 1948, signed Carl Daniel Erskine on the dotted line, and the signature is Mint blue ink rating 10/10. This was the most important moment in his life to that age. According to the contract, he was to be paid $5000 per year. Signing for the "Brooklyn National League Baseball Club Inc." is team President Branch Rickey. Carl broke into the majors a year before Don Newcombe, and from 1948-50 was used primarily as a reliever, going 21-10. Folded otherwise in NM-MT condition.
