1948 Joe Bankhead Negro League Questionnaire
This 8.25x14'' questionnaire was given to Negro Leaguer Joe Bankhead by the William Weiss Publicity Agency. The questions are answered in his own hand including owing his baseball career to "Abe Saperstein," and listing family members who have played professional baseball: "Sam Bankhead The Homestead Grays every since 1928. Fred Bankhead Memphis Red Sox's 1933, Dan Bankhead St. Paul Dodgers he's been playing since 1939 with Birmingham Black Barons. And the Memphis Red Sox's except three years he spent in the service." He has signed with his full name, "Joseph Calvin Bankhead". MT.
