1949-50 Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup Trophy
It took fifty years, but former members of the 1949-50 Stanley Cup Championship Detroit Red Wings team were finally presented with trophies to mark the occasion. The project, involving the players group, the NHL head office and Boffey, the manufacturer, provided trophies to eight players and their families. This sliver plate grail in miniature rises a towering 13.5 inches from its wood base. Under the heading "Detroit Red Wings 1949-50" is inscribed the names of Delvecchio, Howe, Abel, Kelly, Lumley, Lindsay, Pronovost, James Norris Sr., James Norris, Art Wirtz, Jack Adams, Tommy Ivan and others, just as they appear on the grander grail residing in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The brown felt on the bottom of the base displays Boffey's trademark sticker. This particular trophy was made for the family of Joe Carveth.
