1949 All Star Game Collection with Rare Press Guide
Since its inception in 1933, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was played in New York on eight occasions, but only once did it grace venerable Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. The 1949 classic was played on July 12 and while the American League prevailed, 11-7, the big story was that, two years after the breaking of the color barrier, African-Americans would play in the game for the first time, as Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby and Don Newcombe took the field. This package includes a ticket stub, press guide and program to that contest. The ticket stub and press guide are VG while program is unscored but has water damage at the bottom edge.
