1949 Golden State 100 Championship Race Release Forms Signed by 136 w/Rex Mays - One Week Before Mays' Fatal Crash (PSA)
Dating from the 1949 Golden State 100, these four pages of release forms were signed by 136 drivers, employees, owners and more. Dated October 30, 1949 which is about a week before Rex Mays' fatal crash. This is his second to last race ever! Each page has 34 signatures in pencil and included are 14 of the 18 racers: Freddie Agabashian, Rex Mays, Johnnie Parsons, Myron Fohr, Troy Ruttman, Lee Wallard, Mack Hellings, Milt Fankhauser, Duke Dinsmore, Bill Holland, Hal Cole, Duane Carter, Dick Rathman and Cal Niday. Others include: Sam Hanks, Anthony (Andy) Granatelli, Tony Hulman, Walt Faulkner, Bob Gregg, Roscoe Turner, Bill Anderson, Art Scovell and more. These very sheets were salvaged from the trash on that day by a younger brother of one of the race photographers moments after the end of the race, considered a watershed event in post-WW II California sports history. Square tape is around the perimeter of the signatures on all pages and there is some creasing on corners. Each page comes with PSA LOA.
