1949 Jackie Robinson Signed Barnstorming Tour Program

1949 Jackie Robinson Signed Barnstorming Tour Program

Profoundly important Official Souvenir Program from the 1949 postseason barnstorming tour of black big league and Negro league stars fronted by Jackie Robinson, which also included Jackie’s Brooklyn Dodger teammates Roy Campanella & Don Newcombe and Cleveland’s Larry Doby, the 1st black player in the AL. All of these pioneers signed the program -- Newcombe, a bit oddly, to the left of Jackie’s image on the cover fielding a ball inside a centrally placed baseball. Jackie’s signature is on a full-page shot of him taking a cut on inside the cover, and Campy and Doby’s on their images on a 4-shot montage of all the players on the back cover. Signatures are NRMT in strong blue ink. Cover reads “Jackie Robinson” on top and “Major League Barnstorming Tour, Fall-1949” along bottom. 8 x 10” program, with articles about the foursome and accompanying action shots printed in striking blue & white shades, under-”scores” Robinson’s status as a marketable commodity among black and white fans and is EX w/light wrinkling and very slight corner and edge damage.
