1949 Mickey Mantle Vintage Signed Commencement Program
Small (3.5x4") high school commencement program titled "Memories", was for Commerce High School's 1949 graduates, one of whom is known as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, Mickey Mantle. The title page reads, "Memories, Junior-Senior Banquet, Commerce High School, May 13, 1949, High School Gymnasium". The menu featured buffalo meat, brown gravy, baked spuds, cornbread and a "slab o' pie". The autograph pages in the back have been signed by nine students, including Mantle, who signed in print in black fountain pen, "Mick Chas Mantle". The inside back page leaves us appropriately with a quote from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Book of Sonnets, "Nothing now is left but Majestic Memory". JSA LOA.
