Here it is – a piece to make your trophy room something special. Perhaps the most recognizable of awards in any arena is extremely hard to come by. Academy Award was presented to producer, Richard de Rochemont of March of Time, one of the most famous US weekly newsreel companies for the Time Life Company. This talented group documented international affairs, bringing important issues to the mind’s eye of the American public, narrated by the universally known and popular voice of Westbrook van Voorhis. Rising costs brought about the demise of their cause in 1951 as they were not a profit-oriented organization. Impressive golden Oscar stands 13.25” tall and weighs nearly 7 pounds. Front of plate below figure reads: “Academy First Award to March of Time, 20th Century Fox for the Most Outstanding Documentary Short Subject of 1949 ‘A Chance to Live’ Richard DeRochemont, Producer”. Small plate on back reads: “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 1949”. EX+.
