1949 Sid Abel All-Star Game Worn Jersey Sourced Directly from Abel Himself! (Abel LOA)

1949 Sid Abel All-Star Game Worn Jersey Sourced Directly from Abel Himself! (Abel LOA)

All-original and magnificent 1949 NHL All-Star jersey worn by Detroit Red Wings' Hall of Famer Sid Abel. As the third member of the "Production Line" along with Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsey, one of the most productive lines in hockey history led the Wings to Stanley Cup Championships in 1943, '50, and '52. Originally sold by Able in December of 1993, this heavy weight wool sweater-style jersey has knit "NHL 1949" shield on the front with five white felt stars sewn above. Blue & white stripe design spans the shoulders, down each sleeve. Verso is the number 12 in blue on white felt numbers with five white stars above. Tagging inside front left tail is McNiece’s. Shows light use, nice wear and in top display condition. Rock solid provenance as it comes with signed LOA by Abel stating "I hereby certify that this is the jersey that I wore in the 1949 All-Star Game;" also comes with a photo of Abel holding this EXACT jersey. Named one of the 100 Greatest Players in NHL History in 2017, Abel won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's Most Valuable Player in the '49 season, and missed three years in the prime of his career to serve with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, from 1943-46.
