1949 Stubby Overmire Detroit Tigers Game Worn Uniform

1949 Stubby Overmire Detroit Tigers Game Worn Uniform

This beautiful, early Detroit Tigers uniform was game-worn by pitcher Stubby Overmire in the 1949 season. A home jersey with pants, the top has its original gothic "D" on black felt on the left breast, original number "18" on the back in the same black felt, Wilson size 42 tagging in the collar and large "49" for the year sewn inside the front tail. Though it shows heavy use it still has very nice eye appeal, and there is some separation of the seams at the collar and some small holes on the left sleeve, probably from a patch that was applied and then removed when the jersey was reused by the team for spring training or minor league play. The pants have Wilson size 38 tagging in the waist band along with a "1" sewn in. The 1949 season was the last of seven in Detroit for Frank Overmire, nicknamed "Stubby" due to his listed height of 5'7".
