1950 Jackie Robinson First Career 5-Hit Game Ticket Stub PSA GD 2 (Only Known Example)
Presented is a Jackie Robinson first career 5-hit game ticket stub from the Brooklyn Dodgers' away game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 23, 1950, at Forbes Field in which fellow Hall of Famer Gil Hodges homered. When Jackie Robinson broke the modern Major League "Color Line" in 1947, he was already 28 years old. He had only a very few years at a ballplayer's peak - usually his late 20s to early thirties. Robinson made the most of that time. He was the National League's Rookie of the Year in '47, leading the Senior Circuit in steals, batting .297, and helping Brooklyn to the pennant. In '49, the second baseman was the NL MVP as he led the league in batting at .342, and steals, at 37, again being a key part of the Dodgers pennant winners. In his first 5-hit game, Robinson had five hits in six at bats: an RBI single in the 1st inning; an RBI double in the 3rd inning; a flyout in the 5th inning; a single in the 6th inning; an RBI double in the 8th inning; a bases empty homer in the 9th inning. For the game, Robinson scored three runs and had four RBIs. He had another 5-hit game, in '51. The ticket stub, a $1.40 Grand Stand seat, measures 1.25x2.75". The stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded Good 2.
