1950s-70s Topps Football Near and Partial Sets w/Jim Brown Rookie (750+ Cards)
Topps was well into producing football sets by the time they produced their iconic 1956 football set, starting off our run below.They continued their football issues, including all the '50s sets listed below; and our consignor included two sets each of their 1977 and 1978 issues just for good measure. The collection includes: 1) 1956: 66 cards, including Gifford, Layne, Conerly, Bednarik (2) and eight (8) team cards; 10 cards are duplicates. About 50% are EX-MT or better, 35% about EX, 15% lesser. 2) 1957: 96 cards, including #1 LeBaron, Morrall (2), Gifford, Tittle, Blanda and Rosey Brown. About 15 cards are duplicates.45% are EX to EX-MT, 38% VG-EX to EX, 17% slightly lesser. 3) 1958: 78 cards, including Layne, Gifford, Brown RC (FR-GD), Tittle and Blanda. About 13 cards are duplicates. About 40% are EX, 38% VG-EX to EX, 15% VG, 7% slightly lesser. 4) 1959: 15 cards, including #1 Unitas. 2 cards EX+, 9 VG-EX, 4 lesser. 5) 1960: 46 cards, including Hornung (2) and Layne (2); 6 are duplicates. 25% are EX to EX-MT, 40% VG-EX to EX, 25% VG, 10% lesser. 6) 1977: 2 groups; first is a partial set of 295/528, including #45 Staubach (EX-MT+), 146 Carson RC (VG-EX, o/c), 360 Payton (VG) and 380 Casper RC (VG-EX+, o/c). 28% are EX-MT or better, 45% EX, 20% VG-EX, 7% lesser. Second is a group of 165 cards, including #45 Staubach (VG-EX), 146 Carson RC (EX, o/c), 146 Carson #2 (VG) and 380 Casper RC (EX-MT). 25% of cards in this group are duplicates. Approx. 25% are EX-MT or better, 40% EX, 25% VG-EX, 10% lesser.
