In the 1950's, the Comics Novelty Candy Corporation in New York City issued a 12 card Joe Palooka set of actual boxers, plus a series of cards devoted to the comic strip characters. One card comprised the back panel of each box of candy and toys, and the card, set to be cut along perforations, featured a color drawing of the boxer, plus a brief biography. Burdick designated the cards as R427. The cards are usually found as just the back panel of the box, though complete boxes do exist but rarely come to market. This is the only unmade box we have offered and it depicts John L. Sullivan. SGC authentic.
