1951 Hank Greenberg Hand Written Letter

1951 Hank Greenberg Hand Written Letter

2-page letter on Cleveland Indians letterhead (8.5x11") is handwritten in black ink, the unmistakable hand of baseball's first Jewish superstar, Hank Greenberg. Excellent baseball content: Dear Max - I… wish to thank you for your offer of assistance to the Cleveland Baseball club... but in view of the fact that we already have fine coaches and a new manager, I believe it would be unwise to arrange for additional coaching, as there would undoubtedly be some duplication. I suggest that since you are in Florida that you write to Rice, the farm system director for the "Indians". He is in charge of our big camp at Daytona Beach and perhaps he would be in a position to utilize your services in instructing our young players in the art of base running. Al Rosen told me how helpful you were to him and how grateful he is to you. With kindest regards, Sincerely Hank Greenberg." Dated March 3, 1951. Mint condition. Pages are double matted side by side on foam board.
