1951 Mickey Mantle Rookie Autograph (PSA NM-MT 8 Auto)
Mickey Mantle was a rookie with the New York Yankees in 1951, and he even spent some of that season with the Yankees' Kansas City farm club. The Hall of Fame center fielder played right field in '51, as the great Joe DiMaggio was in center field in his final season. Mickey hit .267 in 96 games in '51, with 13 homers and 65 RBIs. In avoiding a collision with Joe DiMaggio in right center field in the '51 World Series, Mantle severally injured his knee. Mantle was a 3-time AL MVP who was on seven Yankee World Champions. His 536 home runs remain the highest home run total for any switch-hitter in baseball history. The 2x2" cut autograph is from a file card. Mantle has signed in ink with a fountain pen. Mantle's signature is emblematic of his early Yankees years, already neat, and yet prior to his meticulously crafted signature exhibited as he spent more time as a Yankee. The cut signature has been encapsulated and comes with a PSA/DNA certified auto grade of NM - MT 8.
