1951 Mickey Mantle & Willie Mays World Series Debut Full Ticket Proof PSA VG-EX 4 (Pop 1 - One Higher)
The Giants had just defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers in the third and deciding game of the iconic 1951 National League pennant play-off on the famous Bobby Thomson "Shot Heard 'Round the World" home run. The very next day, the Giants had to open the World Series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Game 1 marked the World Series debuts for both Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. Mays started in center field for the Giants, batting seventh. Mays was 0-for-5 with a strikeout. Mickey Mantle batted lead-off for the Yanks. Mantle played right field in deference to Joe DiMaggio, who was playing his final season, in center field. Mickey went 0-for-3, but he did draw two walks. No one could guess that in Game 2, Mantle would seriously injure his knee after getting his spikes caught in a sprinkler drain as he avoided a collision with DiMaggio on a fly ball. The Giants won Game 1 by a 5-1 score before 65,673 fans. The Yankees won the Series in six games, their third straight World Series championship. <span style="font-size: 13px;">The ticket was a ticket proof that was not valid for admission, and thus the ticket has remained whole.
