1951 Mrs. Shoeless Joe Jackson Signature (PSA)
It is well known that Joe Jackson was semi illiterate, and for that reason he seldom signed his name, normally making exceptions only for legal documents. However, even after being banished from baseball in 1921 for conspiring to "fix" the 1919 World Series, he continued to receive autograph requests from fans by mail. In those instances, both his wife and sister normally took on the responsibility of sending out Joe Jackson "autographs," which were penned in their hand. Offered here is one of those classic mail-request Joe Jackson "signatures" scripted by his wife. The blue-ink signature (grading 8/10) has been written on a trimmed postcard, and includes the date "9-11-51." This was probably one of the last signatures sent out by his wife, because Jackson died less than three months later at the age of sixty-four. The index card (4x3"), which has been trimmed to its current dimensions, displays several moderate creases and a small stain. In Good condition overall. PSA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as an authentic "Mrs. Joe Jackson" signature.
