1951 World Series Game 1 Full Ticket - Mantle & Mays 1st World Series Game - PSA VG 3 (Pop 1 of 1 - One of Only 3 Graded)

New York Yankees full ticket issued for Game 1 of the 1951 World Series against the New York Giants, which marked the World Series debut for both Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. Graded VG 3 by PSA. This is the ONLY example of this particular full ticket graded at this level, with just one graded higher. It is also one of only four such examples listed in the PSA Population Report (three are graded and one is listed as "Authentic"). The rarity of full tickets to Game 1 of the 1951 fall classic is not surprising, given that 65,673 fans passed through the turnstiles to watch the Yankees defeat the Giants 5-1. Each team boasted a heralded rookie in the game, with Mickey Mantle starting in right field and batting leadoff for the Yankees, and Willie Mays starting in centerfield and batting seventh for the Giants. Neither Mantle or Mays had a hit in the game, but Mantle did walk twice in his five at bats. Little did anyone realize at the time that each player would hit over 500 home runs and be looked upon as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. The ticket, issued for a "Lower Stand Reserved Seat," measures 7.5x2.25" and represents an attractive example of this highly sought after souvenir commemorating the World Series debut for two of baseball's most iconic players.
