1953 Phil Masi Texas League All-Star Game Ring

10K gold ring issued to former Major League catcher Phil Masi for his participation in the 1953 Texas League All-Star Game. This ring originates from Masi's personal collection and has been consigned by a family member. The design features a star on the front, in the center of which is a small red stone. The lettering around the perimeter of the star reads "Texas Baseball League All Star Game." Each shank features an identical design featuring an array of baseball equipment, including bats, ball, and glove. The engraving on the interior band reads "HJ 10K." Excellent condition overall. Size: 8.5. Weight: 15 grams.Masi, who spent his prior fourteen seasons as a standout catcher at the Major League level, was a member of the Dallas Eagles in 1953. His one-year tenure with the Eagles marked his final season in professional baseball. As he recounted later in an interview with Baseball Magazine, he was specially recruited by the Eagles management to help the club win a pennant: "The White Sox gave me my release at the end of 1952. Not long afterwards the owner of the Dallas Eagles, Dick Burnett, called Paul Richards, the White Sox manager. He said he wanted a catcher who could win the Texas League division championship, the playoffs, and the Little Dixie World Series. Richards recommended me, so Burnett signed me up for the next season. And we won all three.”
