1954 Topps Scoop Complete Set (156)

1954 Topps Scoop Complete Set (156)

Topps enjoyed great success with their 1952 issue of Look 'N See which showcased famous people in history, so they repeated the theme in 1954 with their iconic set of Scoop, which showcased famous events in history. A very pleasing set for the card collector or history buff, all the great events of history are depicted here, from the fall of Troy (Trojan Horse) to the advent of supersonic flight. A good number of legendary sports figures are also presented, including Babe Ruth, Bob Feller, Jesse Owens, Joe Louis and the tough card of golfer Ben Hogan. Overall the set presents in high grade EX-MT condition, with only 10% lesser and a good many better, including cards worth professionally grading. As is common with this set, approximately 1/3 of the cards are somewhat off-center, but that does not detract from the overall high quality of the set. The Ruth card is EX+ (slight stain top left corner), Feller is EX-MT, Louis is NM, slight o/c, Owens is EX+ and Hogan is EX+, o/c to the top. Very tough card #1 is NM, nicely centered; card #156 (last card) has EX-MT corners but a slight crease along the bottom. All in all, a high grade, desirable set; with a few upgrades, a world-class set.
