1954 Topps Scoop Complete Set (156) w/SGC
After their successful release of Look ‘N See in 1952, Topps repeated the theme in 1954 with their iconic issue of Scoop which showcased famous events in history, as well as pasteboards of legendary sports figures such as Babe Ruth, Bob Feller, the 4 Horsemen, Jesse Owens, Joe Louis and the tough card of golfer Ben Hogan. Overall the set presents in high grade EX-MT condition, with only 10% lesser and a good many better, including cards worth professionally grading. As is common with this set, a fair number of cards (about 15%) are somewhat off center, but that does not detract from the overall high quality of the set. (3) cards have been encapsulated and graded by SGC including #27 Feller EX-Mt 6; #41 Ruth EX 5; and #129 Hogan EX 5. Louis is NM, 90-10 to the top, Marciano is NM; Owens is NM, 80-20 to the left. Very tough card #1 is EX-MT to NM, 90-10 to the top; card #156 (last card) has EX-MT corners but some chipping along the right edge. An unscratched example of card #53 is included for good measure. All in all, a high grade, desirable set; a few upgrades would make it a world-class set. Total of 157 cards.
