1955 Mickey Mantle Early Vintage Autograph (PSA)

"That kid can hit balls over buildings," said New York Yankee manager Casey Stengel about center fielder Mickey Mantle. Displayed is a beautiful PSA/DNA certified 1955 Mantle autograph. Mickey had a great season in 1955. He hit .306 and led the American League in: homers (37), triples (11), walks (113), OBP (.431), SLG (.611), and OPS 1.042). Mickey helped the Yankees to the AL pennant in 1955, and they lost to the Brooklyn Dodgers, who won their first World Series. that season. Mantle would go on to win three AL MVP Awards, was a 20-time All-Star, won a Gold Glove and a Triple Crown. Of course, there was the season of 1961, when mantle and Roger Maris chased Babe Ruth's single season home run record of 60. Mantle hit 536 home runs and bat .298 lifetime on his way to the Hall of Fame. The autograph is neatly scripted by Mantle on a 3" x 5" card. Mantle's penmanship is immaculate as he signed in ball point pen. and graded by PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC. There is a tiny smudge of ink on the letter "e" on Mantle's last name, but otherwise Mantle's penmanship as he signed in black fountain pen is immaculate. The signed card is valuable in that it contains the signature of an American idol.
