1956 Jackie Robinson Signed Check to the Dodgers
Personal check dated "Oct. 2, 1956" is paid to the order of the "Brooklyn Baseball Club" and stamped on the back by the Dodgers ticket office. This was obviously payment for tickets for the Fall Classic, which would be Robinson's last. Notified that he was to be traded to the hated New York Giants, Jackie chose instead to hang up his spikes. He would, however, hit his final World Series home run the next day at Ebbets Field, but ultimately fall to the Yanks in seven games. Check is made out entirely in Robinson's NRMT hand. Check itself has one vertical crease, otherwise NRMT. The best Robinson check we've seen.
