1957 Jimmy Durante Horse Racing Trophy
Trophy presented to comedian/entertainer Jimmy Durante stands roughly 22" in height, with a wood base measuring 5.75x5.75" and 3.25" high. Plate on front reads, "To Jimmy Durante - A Fine American with the Heart of an Angel - Al Bahr Shrine Temple - San Diego, California - Aug 14, 1957." The trophy top contains a thoroughbred racehorse atop a loving cup; fittingly, in 2013, an annual race at Del Mar Racetrack in California was renamed as the "Jimmy Durante Stakes" in honor of the former vaudevillian. Trophy shows its age with tarnishing evident though it remains fully intact.
