1958 Shigeo Nagashima Major League Debut Ticket
Japanese baseball legend Shigeo Nagashima had a rocky start to his baseball career, striking out in all five of his at-bats for the Yomiuri Giants against Masaichi Kaneda on April 5, 1958. Here's a ticket stub to that game in Japan, It grades VG-EX and is the first we have ever handled or heard of. Despite the inauspicious debut, Nagashima eventually racked up 29 home runs and 92 RBI to earn Rookie of the Year honors. Interestingly, he failed to hit .300 and 30 homers with his 30 steals that season as he had one long ball nullified because he forgot to step on first base while rounding the bases on the near-home run.
