1959 Pittsburgh Baseball Writers All-Star Banquet Autographed Program with Richard Nixon
This program for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association First All-Star Banquet in 1959 is an autograph hound's dream. Honorees Stan Musial and Ted Williams left their mark in bold (9-10/10) blue ballpoint, in addition to numerous others (also 9-10/10) including: Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Don Drysdale, Branch Rickey, Harvey Haddix, Orlando Cepeda, Danny Murtaugh, Ernie Banks, Smokey Burgess, Vada Pinson and "Dick Nixon", better known as then Vice President Richard M. Nixon. Like Haddix, who lost after pitching 12 perfect innnings in a game just weeks earlier, Nixon would soon taste defeat in a bitterly contested presidential election against John F. Kennedy. The program shows several creases and there is some light foxing on the backside, but it, nevertheless, displays like an All-Star.
