1959 Sadaharu Oh Gold Border Rookie SGC 96
As a member of the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants, Oh hit 868 home runs - the all-time pro baseball record. In 1965, he hit the Japanese record 55 HR. Oh averaged 45 HR a year in winning 13 consecutive HR titles, including Triple Crown seasons in '74 and '75. He won 9 consecutive Japan League Championships, a feat not matched in any sport. He broke Hank Aaron's career HR mark in 1978. His '59 Hoshi Gangu rookie comes with a white or gold border. His gold bordered rookie is approximately 10 times rarer than the regular issue. PSA has never graded a mint Oh gold border rookie. Tremendous example has razor sharp corners. The gold border really makes it a radiant card. As Japanese baseball players become more prominent in the U.S., fans will come to realize that Oh may be one of the best baseball players of all-time. A solid investment for the future.
