1959 Topps Baseball Cello Packs (2) (Hoyt Wilhelm on top)
Splendid pair of 1959 Topps Baseball Cello Packs. These are from a cello box that was recently discovered! They contain 12 cards per pack. These are from the 4th series featuring cards 287-374. Possible Ernie Banks, Al Kaline, Billy Martin, Richie Ashburn, Willie Mays with Ashburn, and Sparky Anderson’s rookie. Tightly wrapped in original factory cellophane. One pack features Hoyt Wilhelm on top and Gus Bell on the bottom. Wilhelm was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985. The other pack has Johnny Temple on top and Don Zimmer on the bottom. With 12 cards per pack and only 87 cards in the series, you’ll get about 14% of the entire series in one pack. Based on the odds you will have a good chance of obtaining some stars in these packs. If you open this dynamic duo it will offer you your best chance at finding mint cards for the set. The pack with Temple on top has brittle cellophane that has cracked at the bottom of the pack as well as at the corners. The pack with Wilhelm on top exhibits the same brittle cellophane at three of the four corners. The Wilhelm pack is free of any cello cracking on the top or bottom. Though the cellophane is brittle the cards have not been affected in any way. Great to keep closed or rip ‘em open for some high-grade cards!
