1959 Ty Cobb Single-Signed Baseball (PSA)
<p>J deBeer and Son "Semi-Pro League" ball signed by Ty Cobb on a side panel. The legendary "Georgia Peach" has beautifully inscribed the ball in his customary green ink "To Frank Kennedy Jr./From/Ty Cobb." Both the inscription and signature grade 8/10. The date, "2/23/59" (written in an unknown hand) appears in blue ink on the ball label. Interestingly, we have seen at auction a Ty Cobb handwritten letter addressed to Frank Kennedy Jr. referencing this very ball. Apparently, the letter and ball separated at some point in time. In the letter, which is dated 2/2/59, Cobb acknowledges that he has received the ball and is happy to sign it, but that Kennedy must send him the postage to cover the return of the ball! The ball has been coated with a heavy layer of protective shellac and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Full LOA from PSA.</p>
