1960s Marty Robbins NASCAR Race Worn Jumpsuit - Famed "El Paso" Singer

1960s Marty Robbins NASCAR Race Worn Jumpsuit - Famed "El Paso" Singer

Capitalizing on the success of his singing career, country music star Marty Robbins used some of his wealth to participate in his passion, NASCAR auto racing. This jumpsuit was race-worn by Robbins in the 1960s. Absent the "walking billboard" look that drivers sport today, the one-piece suit is free of advertising save the checkered flag patch of the manufacturer, Hinchman Nomex, sewn to the right shoulder. The bright blue uniform with yellow highlights also has an American flag on the left shoulder, with Robbins' name stitched in blue script on the left breast near the topper. The cloth belt and cuffs have velcro connectors, the suit shows nice use and is colorful and in EX condition. Robbins secured his musical fame with the Grammy-winning #1 hit "El Paso" in 1959, and had six top-ten finishes in his 35-race career.
