1961 Bell Brand L.A. Dodgers Near Complete Card Set
1961 Bell Brand L.A. Dodger series, missing only one of the complete run of 20 cards. Near-identical sets were issued from 1960-62, with the cards packed inside packages of Bell Brand potato and corn chips. Cards are 2 7/16 x 3.5", with color shots of the players/facsimile signatures above their names and stats/schedule on back. The trick is finding a Bell set free of grease stains from the chips (believe it or not, the company didn't foresee or correct the problem), and here is just such a set -- clean and crisp w/sharp edges and corners, featuring the likes of Koufax, Snider, Wills, Gilliam, Roseboro, T. Davis, W. Davis, Hodges, Craig, Podres, N. Sherry, L. Sherry, and Alston. Missing only Roebuck. Average grade is VG-EX w/just a few having darkened. Most have centering issues -- as almost all Bell cards did -- but are great for display.
