1962 "Decidedly" Kentucky Derby Record Breaking Horseshoe ("New Track Record")

1962 "Decidedly" Kentucky Derby Record Breaking Horseshoe ("New Track Record")

This handsome plaque has that early 1960s Danish Modern vintage appeal, beautifully constructed, with a brass plate incised, "Winner 1962 Kentucky Derby Decidedly Distance 1 1/4 Miles New Track Record 2 2/3." Made by Thoroughbred, the horseshoe shows use and was worn by Decidedly in the 1962 Derby, and is attached to the plaque. Decidedly was the fifth-fastest winner in the history of the Derby. He was sired by Determine who also won in 1954. This was a very important horse, and only a few horses ran the Kentucky Derby faster. Measures 11.5x8x.75", condition is beautiful NM as is the presentation. Incredible find was one of two discovered at a recent estate in Woodstock, Georgia.
