1963 Nellie Fox White Sox Trade Collection

1963 Nellie Fox White Sox Trade Collection

A great Hall of Famer gets the boot. Collection includes: 1) Letter from General Manager E.G. Short. "…I want to thank you for the many fine years you put in with the Chicago White Sox and your contributions to the club's overall success. It is always difficult to part with a fine player and I hope your departure to Houston will not terminate an old and cherished friendship…" 2) Similar letter from the traveling secretary. 3) Letter from Ed Froelich, head athletic trainer. "…I know better than anyone else the number of times you went to the post less than your best. Sometimes you were sick, sometimes you were hurt, but always, you wanted to play, to work…" All letters are on official White Sox stationery. Two of the three have original mailing envelopes. All are NRMT. 4) "Notice to Player of Release or Transfer" card, reading, "To Mr. Jacob Nelson Fox, You are hereby notified as follows: That your contract has been assigned to the Houston Club of National League, without right of recall." Signed by club president. EX.
