1966-67 Phil Esposito Signed 20th Goal of the Season Puck
During the 1966-67 NHL season, Hockey Hall of Famer Phil Esposito was enjoying his fourth year in the league as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. The team finished in first place in the standings for the first time ever with a club-high 41 victories. Esposito helped the team’s winning ways with 21 goals and 40 assists. Despite their roll, the Blackhawks lost in the playoffs, four games to two, to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Toronto Maple Leafs. This lot offers the actual puck with which Espo scored his 20th goal of the season, which he has signed in silver with his uniform number “7” and “#20” and the date of the game “3/30/67” as well. In a somewhat ironic twist, it occurred in a 3-1 victory against his future team, the Boston Bruins. The CCM Official Art Ross puck shows plenty of game use which only adds to its allure. Espo’s signature is clear despite some portions beading up on the puck.
