1966 Beach Boys Signed Capitol Records Contract

1966 Beach Boys Signed Capitol Records Contract

This Capitol Records contract signed by the Beach Boys on March 1, 1966, came at their peak, yet it also prefaced the band's downfall -- coming just as a drug-blitzed and deranged Brian Wilson was going into self-imposed exile in his bedroom, dooming any hopes Capitol had for followups to "Good Vibrations." The one-page sheet is an addendum sent to Capitol exec Nick Grillo by the group's management, Julius Lefkowitz & Co., is signed by Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson and their cousin Mike Love. Signatures are NRMT in either black or blue ballpoint, on the designated lines above their typed-in names. Brian's left-handed signature is particularly valuable, as one of his last, before going bye-bye for 7 years. The 8.5x11" sheet is EX, with some little edge tears on the left side, and punch holes at the top from being kept in a binder. LOA.
