1967 Boston Red Sox World Series Game 1 Full Unused Ticket PSA VG-EX 4
Displayed is a rare full unused ticket to Game 1 of the 1967 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals at Boston's Fenway Park. The offering has been encapsulated and PSA graded VG-EX 4, POP 1, ONLY 8 HIGHER. Before a crowd of 34,796, St. Louis defeated Boston 2-1 as Hall of Famer Bob Gibson pitched a six-hitter and defeated Boston starter Jose Santiago, who allowed two runs, both earned, in seven innings. St. Louis scored first when in the top of the 3rd inning, Hall of Famer Lou Brock singled, advanced to second base on a double by Curt Flood and scored on a ground out by Roger Maris. Boston tied up the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning as the Red Sox starting pitcher, Jose Santiago, homered to left center off Gibson. In the top of the 7th inning, St. Louis scored the eventual winning run when Brock singled, stole second, moved to third on a ground out, and scored on a Maris ground out to second base. Gibson shut out the Red Sox the rest of the way for the win. St. Louis won the World Series in seven games. Hall of Famers playing in this game for St. Louis were Brock, Orlando Cepeda, and Gibson. The Cardinals were managed by Hall of Fame second baseman Red Schoendienst. Steve Carlton, another Cardinal Hall of Famer, pitched in the '67 World Series, but not in Game 1. Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski played in Game 1 for Boston and the Red Sox were managed by hall of Fame manager Dick Williams. The offered ticket measures 2.5x7". It is a scarce remembrance for one of baseball's classic World Series.
