1967 Rick Griffin Human Be-In First Printing Poster (14.25x22.5")
The Human In-Be took place on a sunny January day in 1967 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. This pivotal event in the history of hippie counterculture ushered in the "Summer of Love" where thousands of kids from across the US converged on San Francisco. This poster by Rick Griffin was only his second major piece, and resulted in Rick being asked to contribute to the Avalon Ballroom Family Dog poster series. The rest, as they say, is history. Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Dick Gregory, Richard Alpert, as well as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Country Joe were among the many pop culture luminaries that appeared.
