1969-70 Bill Knibbs Buffalo Bisons AHL Game Worn Hockey Jersey (MeiGray)
One of the most desirable styles in the entire hockey collecting world, this very rare 1969-70 jersey represents the AHL's Buffalo Bisons from one of their most dominant seasons. In 1956, a local Pepsi distributor purchased the Bisons and changed their colors and logo, featuring the familiar red, white, and blue bottle cap with "Buffalo" across the white field, and the design has remained a hit through the years. Significantly, the Bisons won the AHL Championship in '69-70 under the guidance of Hall of Fame Coach Fred Shero, with future NHLers including Terry Crisp, Wayne Maki, Orland Kurtenbach, goalie Gilles Villemure, and more. This jersey, which we believe was game worn by Bill Knibbs, is all original with said bottle cap logo on front, and displays heavy use with over 12 team repairs, stick marks, paint transfers, unrepaired rips, and pillings. Customized by Dick Fisher Sporting Goods but the tags have come out from use, alternate captain's "A" also on front, and number "12" in tackle twill on back and both sleeves is original. Comes with MeiGray letter which lists the jersey wearer as "unknown," however our research indicates that Knibbs - who played one NHL season with the Boston Bruins - played 69 games while wearing number 12 that season.
