1969 Rod Gaspar World Series Game Four Worn Jersey
We have matched up the jersey to photographs from that day, and there's no doubt that this jersey is the very one worn by pinch runner Rod Gaspar as bounded across home plate in the bottom of the tenth inning to win what is considered one of the greatest games in World Series history. This amazing relic of Mets glory has the team logo patch on the left sleeve and "100th Anniversary" patch on the right, a combination only occuring that Amazin' October. "Mets 17" spans chest, with "17" on verso. Strip tag in collar is, "39 69 17." Tail tagging: "Spalding [size] 40" with dry cleaning tag below and "Set 1 1969" flag tag. Pinstriped flannel shows fine use. And finally, a blue sharpie note from the former owner on the chest reads, "My 1969 Jersey, Rod Gaspar." LOA from noted baseball historian/author.
