1969 The Doors Electric Circus Poster

1969 The Doors Electric Circus Poster

Deriving their name from the title of an Aldous Huxley book, The Doors were a seminal 1960s rock group that formed in Los Angeles in 1965. This 39" x 17" framed poster promotes an August 8, 1969 concert in New York City that took place just one month after the release of the band's "The Soft Parade" album, which featured the smash first single "Touch Me." The item, which has never been offered to date, is colorful and resplendent with a kitschy Warholian look to it. By 1969, lead singer Jim Morrison had developed an escalating case of agoraphobia, and skipped a chance for the Doors to perform at Woodstock the same month as this concert for fear someone in the crowd at Max Yasgur's farm would try to shoot him.
