1970 Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies Promotional Poster

1970 Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies Promotional Poster

Hands down, the most compelling Jimi Hendrix poster ever. Put out by Capitol Records in the early 70s to pitch the Band of Gypsies LP, the surreal milieu captures Jimi during a 1970 New Year's Eve concert at the Fillmore East. Situated at the far left, his eyes are closed in rockin' meditation, his right hand on the neck of his guitar, his left arm raised into the air, his pick clenched in a hand effecting a seminal "rock power" salute. Spectators groove in a dreamscape with a peace flag draped over the balcony. At right, a clock is about to strike 12. Awesome! Top of the 34 x 57" poster reads "Hendrix (white) Band of Gypsies (orange)" and along the top left the "Gypsies": Hendrix, Buddy Miles and Billy Cox. Poster is VG-EX with minor crinkling along the edges but o/a a stunner.
