1970s Franz Beckenbauer New York Cosmos Game-Worn Jersey

1970s Franz Beckenbauer New York Cosmos Game-Worn Jersey

Generally regarded as the greatest German footballer of all time, Franz Beckenbauer closed out his remarkable playing career in 1983 with the New York Cosmos of the NASL (his fifth with the club). This jersey was personally gifted by Beckenbauer to reporter Ike Kuhn. The Cosmos logo and yellow stitched #6 distinguish the front, while "BECKENBAUER 6" comprises the back, also stitched. The shirt is a light knit with collar and V-neck. Ellesse Italian tag in collar along with tag depicting flags and sizes. Shows some use. A versatile player who started out as a midfielder but made his name as a defender, Beckenbauer is often credited as having invented the role of the modern sweeper.
