1970s/80s Chicago Bears Game Used Helmet
Sharp-eyed Bear connoisseurs will know this classic helmet was worn between '72 and '82, as the white border around the orange "C" on both sides was added in '72 and the gray facemask was changed to black in '83. While the actual identity or identities of the men who wore the Wilson helmet is unclear, "53" is hand-written both on an interior pad and a red patch affixed to the underside, branding it a linebacker's headgear. Helmet may have been recycled and used in training camp by a number of aspiring players. Strong use in the form of markings, cracks and sweat darkening on the padding, and both "C's" have become slightly unpeeled. What did you expect from a Bears helmet, an Easter bonnet?
