1971 Bazooka Football Complete Set of Unused Boxes
Presented is a complete set of 12 boxes from the scarce 1971 Bazooka football cards set. With three cards per box, the set of 36 cards includes 17 Hall of Famers, many of the biggest names in the sport. Similar to the 1960s Bazooka baseball cards, this football issue, the first Bazooka football set since 1959, is much more scarce than its baseball counterparts. Leading off with Joe Namath, the 36-card set also includes Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus and OJ Simpson. As is standard with this issue, factory provided tape is on 10 of the boxes, mostly applied to the first card of the panel, which includes tape on cards of Namath, Tarkenton and Unitas. One of the boxes does not have any tape applied (10-12). While the complete boxes display well, the technical grades of the cards range from VG to EX, with minor creases and dings on a third of the boxes plus the aforementioned tape. One box would grade GOOD with multiple creases. Still, despite the above, this is one tough set to find and/or complete, and would make a worthy Canton-style entrance and addition to your collection.
