1971 Frankie Frisch Babe Ruth Crown (15" tall)
The most exalted post-career award in baseball, presented annually by the Maryland Professional Baseball Players Association. Model is a bejeweled crown with red velvet center, in honor of the great Babe Ruth. Fine metalwork and engraving went into the building of this trophy awarded to Frank Frisch in 1971. In wonderful condition except for a small chip in the front of the wooden podium where it holds metal plate and 3 jewels missing from the crown itself. One of the earliest Babe Ruth Crowns we have ever seen. The Babe Ruth crown was a tradition started in the 1960's. The award has since been modified into an actual crown which can be worn on the head, but we think this trophy is a much nicer version. EX-MT.
