1972 Soviet Union Team-Signed Stick From The Summit Series
September 28, 1972 is a date Canadians will always cherish. That's when the country rallied to stun the Soviet Union in the eight-game hockey tournament between the two nations. Paul Henderson's goal at 19:26 of the final period in the final game gave Canada a 6-5 victory and series championship, four games to three with one tie. Thirteen members of the USSR team, including Valeri Kharlamov, signed this stick. with the average signature rating 5/6 in strength. The unused Viking stick has one small drill hole from having been mounted and, typically, it brandishes the Soviet colors of red and yellow. The first four games of the series were played in the respective cities of Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver, while the final four took place in Moscow.
